{"id":6278,"date":"2026-05-24T08:17:37","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T06:17:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/catholicus.eu\/en\/?p=6278"},"modified":"2026-05-24T08:17:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T06:17:37","slug":"there-is-not-a-single-pope-in-the-bible-until-you-actually-read-the-bible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/catholicus.eu\/en\/there-is-not-a-single-pope-in-the-bible-until-you-actually-read-the-bible\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cThere Is Not a Single Pope in the Bible\u201d\u2026 Until You Actually Read the Bible"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many people confidently repeat a phrase that sounds devastating: <em>\u201cThe papacy does not appear in the Bible.\u201d<\/em><br>But it only takes opening the Scriptures honestly \u2014 and reading them together with the history of the Church \u2014 to discover something astonishing: the Bible not only presents Peter as the visible head of the Church, but even mentions some of his successors in Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes.<br>Scripture mentions Peter, Linus, and Clement. Exactly the first three bishops of Rome recognized by Apostolic Tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peter \u2192 Matthew 16:18<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Linus \u2192 2 Timothy 4:21<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clement \u2192 Philippians 4:3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem was never a lack of evidence.<br>The problem is that many try to read the Bible separated from the Church that preserved it, transmitted it, and defined it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And here appears one of the greatest contradictions of modern Christianity: accepting the biblical canon defined by the Church\u2026 while denying the authority of that same Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the Bible did not fall from heaven already bound in black leather with an index and verse numbers.<br>There were centuries of preaching, persecutions, martyrs, bishops, councils, and apostolic succession before the New Testament existed as we know it today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The great question is not whether the papacy appears in the Bible.<br>The real question is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Can the Church founded by Christ exist without a visible authority safeguarding the unity of the faith?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Christ Did Not Found a \u201cFree Christianity\u201d: He Founded a Church<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many imagine Jesus simply leaving behind a book for everyone to interpret according to their own conscience.<br>But that is not what the Gospels show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ founded a visible, concrete Church with authority and hierarchy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He did not say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cGo, and let each person interpret the Scriptures however he wishes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe who hears you hears Me.\u201d (Luke 10:16)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And also:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf he refuses to listen even to the Church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.\u201d (Matthew 18:17)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Church appears as doctrinal authority even before the complete New Testament existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This completely changes the perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The apostles did not evangelize by handing out printed Bibles.<br>They evangelized by orally preaching the faith received from Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint Paul makes this absolutely clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTherefore, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter.\u201d<br>\u2014 2 Thessalonians 2:15<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The word \u201ctraditions\u201d here does not mean human inventions or customs.<br>It refers to the deposit of apostolic faith transmitted by the Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peter: The Visible Rock of the Church<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The central text is impossible to ignore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Matthew 16:18\u201319<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something extraordinary happens here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>changes Simon\u2019s name to Peter,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gives him the keys,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and entrusts him with a singular authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Bible, changing someone\u2019s name signifies a divine mission:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Abram \u2192 Abraham<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jacob \u2192 Israel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Simon \u2192 Peter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not a decorative detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The name \u201cPeter\u201d comes from <em>Kepha<\/em> (rock).<br>Christ is establishing a visible foundation for the unity of His Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The keys: a symbol of royal authority<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many overlook the biblical meaning of the keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Isaiah 22:22 we read about the royal steward of the Davidic kingdom:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The king had a visible administrator governing in his absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ \u2014 Son of David and eternal King \u2014 uses exactly the same language with Peter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not accidental.<br>It is a structure of spiritual government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peter Acts as the Visible Head Throughout the New Testament<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After Matthew 16, Peter constantly appears exercising leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peter speaks first<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Pentecost:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peter preaches the first sermon (Acts 2).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the first public miracle:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peter acts in the apostolic name (Acts 3).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before the Sanhedrin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peter answers on behalf of all (Acts 4).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the case of Ananias and Sapphira:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peter exercises disciplinary authority (Acts 5).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Council of Jerusalem:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peter gives the decisive speech (Acts 15).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even when James speaks afterward, he does so based upon Peter\u2019s prior doctrinal intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The structure is evident:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Peter confirms,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the others collaborate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is precisely the Catholic understanding of Petrine primacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cFeed My Sheep\u201d: Christ\u2019s Final Mandate<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In John 21:15\u201317, the risen Jesus entrusts Peter with a unique mission:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFeed My lambs\u2026 tend My sheep\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ does not say this to all the apostles in the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter receives a universal pastoral mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And here is something extremely important:<br>the sheep still belong to Christ, not to Peter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pope does not replace Christ.<br>The Pope is the visible vicar of Christ on earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Catholicism has never taught that the Pope is sinless, perfect, or divine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Catholic doctrine teaches something far more humble and profound:<br>Christ protects His Church from officially falling into definitive doctrinal error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linus and Clement: The Successors Are Also in the Bible<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where many people become surprised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linus in 2 Timothy 4:21<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint Paul writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEubulus sends greetings to you, as do Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brethren.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That \u201cLinus\u201d is recognized by the early Church as Peter\u2019s immediate successor in Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is not a secondary figure invented centuries later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first Christians knew perfectly well about the continuity of the Roman episcopate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clement in Philippians 4:3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint Paul mentions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2026and Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That Clement has been identified since antiquity with Pope Clement I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And here something historically fascinating happens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of the first century, the Church in Corinth experienced serious internal problems.<br>Who intervened to restore order?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clement wrote an authoritative letter to the Corinthians even while the Apostle John was still alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This demonstrates something enormous:<br>the Church of Rome was already exercising moral and doctrinal authority over other Churches from apostolic times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apostolic Succession: The Great Theme Many Avoid<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Biblical Christianity was never individualistic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The apostles transmitted authority through the laying on of hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acts 1: Judas is replaced<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Judas falls, the apostles do not say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe no longer need replacements.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They choose Matthias to occupy his ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2 Timothy 2:2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saint Paul tells Timothy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat you have heard from me\u2026 entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here we see four generations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Paul<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Timothy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>faithful men<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>others after them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is apostolic succession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not a faith constantly reinventing itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u201cSola Scriptura\u201d and Its Fundamental Problem<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Protestant doctrine of \u201csola scriptura\u201d claims that the Bible alone is the only infallible authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But a devastating question arises:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where does the Bible teach \u201csola scriptura\u201d?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nowhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, the Bible teaches the opposite:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>oral tradition,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>apostolic authority,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>succession,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a visible Church.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, \u201csola scriptura\u201d creates an impossible problem to solve:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who defined which books belong in the Bible?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bible does not contain an inspired table of contents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was the councils of the Church that discerned the canon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And then the contradiction appears:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>they accept the canon defined by the Church,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>yet reject the authority of the Church that defined it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is like trusting a mother to identify her child\u2026 and then claiming that the mother has no authority whatsoever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Biblical Canon Did Not Fall from Heaven<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For centuries there were debates regarding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hebrews,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revelation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>James,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Jude,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and other books.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Church discerned under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Councils of Hippo and Carthage helped establish the canon later recognized by all Christendom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This destroys the idea of a self-sufficient Bible separated from the Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because before there was a defined New Testament:<br>there were already sacraments,<br>there were already bishops,<br>there was already liturgy,<br>there was already apostolic authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Church produced the biblical canon; the canon did not produce the Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Does This Matter Today?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many sincere Christians deeply love Christ, yet live in a context of doctrinal fragmentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thousands of denominations interpret the Bible in contradictory ways regarding:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>baptism,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the Eucharist,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>salvation,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>morality,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>divorce,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>authority,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sacraments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And all of them quote verses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet Christ prayed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat they may all be one.\u201d<br>\u2014 John 17:21<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Visible unity is not an optional detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The papacy exists precisely to safeguard that unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not as a human political monarchy, but as a spiritual service of communion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Pope Is Not the Center: Christ Is<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here it is important to avoid caricatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Authentic Catholicism does not teach worship of the Pope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pope:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>does not replace Christ,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>does not create new truths,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>is not above the Gospel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His role is to faithfully guard the deposit received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Saint Vincent of L\u00e9rins said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo preserve what has been believed everywhere, always, and by all.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mission of the Pope is to preserve, not reinvent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History Confirms What the Bible Suggests<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The early Church Fathers continually speak about Roman primacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Saint Ignatius of Antioch (1st\u20132nd century)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He recognizes the special authority of the Church of Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Saint Irenaeus (2nd century)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He affirms that every Church must agree with Rome because of its preeminent authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Saint Cyprian<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He calls Rome:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe chair of Peter.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was not a medieval has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Real Modern Problem: Rejecting All Authority<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current crisis is not only theological.<br>It is cultural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We live in an age suspicious of every authority:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>family authority,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>moral authority,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>doctrinal authority,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>spiritual authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Modern man wants a Christianity without obedience, without dogmas, and without mediation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But Christ founded exactly the opposite:<br>a visible, sacramental, and apostolic Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this does not enslave the believer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It protects him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because without stable doctrinal authority, each person ultimately becomes his own \u201cpope,\u201d interpreting the faith according to emotions, trends, or ideologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Church Guarded the Faith While the World Changed<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Empires fell.<br>Kingdoms disappeared.<br>Ideologies rose and died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But apostolic succession continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From Peter until today there exists a visible historical line of bishops of Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are not speaking about an abstract idea.<br>We are speaking about concrete historical continuity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That does not mean every pope has been a saint.<br>The Bible never promises flawless saints in every generation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What it promises is something different:<br>divine assistance so that the Church will neither disappear nor officially teach error as definitive truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Final Reflection: The Bible and the Church Were Never Separated<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The great modern error is trying to oppose:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bible against Church,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scripture against Tradition,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Christ against apostolic authority.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But in original Christianity these realities were inseparable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Church transmitted the Scriptures.<br>Scripture was born within the Church.<br>And apostolic succession protects the correct interpretation of the faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Therefore, when someone says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere are no popes in the Bible,\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the answer is not merely to show verses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The true answer is to understand that the Bible itself was born within a visible, apostolic, and hierarchical Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter is there.<br>Linus is there.<br>Clement is there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And behind them stands something even deeper:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ\u2019s
