There are truths that are not merely studied: they uphold an entire life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first article of the Creed is not simply a phrase learned in childhood or repeated mechanically at Holy Mass. It is the cornerstone of every Catholic worldview. It is the beginning of all theology, all true anthropology, all morality, and all hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In these few words, atheism collapses, materialism is corrected, modern chaos is answered, the meaning of suffering is illuminated, and the dignity of man is revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today we live in an age in which many know how to use technology, but do not know who created them. Progress is discussed, but origin is ignored. Freedom is idolized, but its purpose is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That is why returning to the Creed is not nostalgia: it is spiritual survival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To say \u201cI believe\u201d does not mean \u201cI think.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is not a vague emotion. To believe, in the Catholic sense, means to adhere with intelligence and will to the Truth revealed by God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Faith does not destroy reason: it elevates it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Traditional catechism teaches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n We know that God exists because reason demonstrates it and faith confirms it.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This is crucial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Church has never taught an irrational faith. From the Fathers of the Church to Saint Thomas Aquinas, Christianity has defended that creation itself cries out for the existence of a Creator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There can be no design without a Designer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nothing can arise absolutely from nothing by itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Conscience is not a chemical accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If everything depended on something else, nothing would exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In other words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not believing in God requires more irrational faith than believing in Him.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Catholic faith proclaims an absolute truth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not many. One true God: eternal, infinite, perfect, pure spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Before, Baal was worshipped. Before, incense was offered to statues. Man always worships something. And when he ceases to worship God, he ends up worshipping lesser things\u2026 even himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Calling God Father is not sentimental metaphor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is a profoundly deep truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From all eternity, the Father begets the Son. Here we enter the sublime mystery of the Holy Trinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He made us. We are not biological accidents. Through Baptism we are adoptive children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This changes everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We do not pray to a cosmic force. When the figure of the father is destroyed in society, it becomes more difficult to understand God. A civilization without a Father ultimately becomes lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Divine omnipotence does not mean arbitrariness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n God can do all that corresponds to His perfect nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because sin is not power. Lying does not perfect. Dying does not elevate. God cannot cease to be God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n His power consists not in contradiction, but in absolute perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The world often seems out of control. Only God creates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Man transforms. This destroys two modern errors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Matter is not eternal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n God is not the universe; God created the universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nothing exists outside dependence upon Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n God is not an absent watchmaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He did not create the world only to leave it alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here lies one of the most difficult questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Catholic teaching distinguishes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The supreme example: The greatest crime in history (killing the Son of God) was permitted in order to accomplish the greatest work of mercy (Redemption).<\/p>\n\n\n\n This does not trivialize suffering. Modernity mocks angels and demons as psychological symbols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Catholic faith teaches something radically different:<\/p>\n\n\n\n They are creatures:<\/p>\n\n\n\n They were created to glorify God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The angelic sin was pride: And that remains the essence of every rebellion against God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Every sin repeats, in miniature, the echo of Lucifer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Speaking of the devil is not medieval fanaticism. Satan hates man because man is called to a place of glory that he lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Catechism summarizes it with immortal wisdom:<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is no serious Christianity without spiritual combat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Every faithful soul has a guardian angel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is not pious poetry. Your angel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Many consult horoscopes\u2026 but ignore their Guardian Angel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A rational creature composed of body and soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here the great anthropological crisis of today is answered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You are not merely biology. You have an immortal soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It depends on having been created in the image of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n That is why every culture that denies the soul eventually degrades the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Without this doctrine, the world seems incomprehensible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because man fell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Adam did not commit a \u201cmythological mistake.\u201d We desire good\u2026 but do evil. Humanity is not simply \u201cuninformed.\u201d Where Adam fell, Where Eve was wounded, Mary was conceived without original sin by anticipation of Christ\u2019s merits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She did not need less of a Savior. After the Fall, God does not abandon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He promises a Redeemer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All human history changes from that moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The entire Old Testament is expectation. Christ does not appear unexpectedly. Not later.
