Nicodemus belongs to this second group. He is not an apostle, not a martyr, not a saint known for great heroic acts\u2026 at least, not at the beginning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is, rather, a divided man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A man who seeks the truth\u2026 but fears the consequences of finding it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And for that very reason, his story is not ancient. It is deeply current. It is the story of millions of people today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who Was Nicodemus? An Important Man\u2026 and Yet Empty<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus appears in the Gospel of John as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Pharisee<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A member of the Sanhedrin (the religious elite of Israel)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A teacher of the Law<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, he was not ignorant nor superficial. He was educated, religious, respected. He had prestige, knowledge, and position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But something was missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He lacked what is essential: <strong>a life inwardly transformed by God<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here lies the first great lesson:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can know a lot about God\u2026 and not know God.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Night of Nicodemus: When the Soul Seeks in Secret<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The key moment in his story is when he decides to visit Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is a detail that is not accidental:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>He goes at night.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNow there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus\u2026 He came to Jesus at night\u2026\u201d (John 3:1\u20132)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why at night?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fear of what others might say<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fear of losing his status<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inner insecurity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A reluctance to expose himself<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus believes\u2026 but not enough to take a public step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is where his story directly challenges us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 How many times do you also \u201cgo at night\u201d to God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When you pray in private, but do not dare to live your faith publicly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you know what is right, but fear looking bad<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When you sense the truth\u2026 but do not want it to change your life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cYou Must Be Born Again\u201d: The Phrase That Disorients Nicodemus<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In that encounter, Jesus says something that shatters all his frameworks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUnless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.\u201d (John 3:3)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus, a rational and educated man, does not understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He responds almost with irony:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHow can a man be born when he is old?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here lies the clash:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nicodemus represents religion understood as rules, tradition, structure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Christ brings a new, radical, interior life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not about \u201cbehaving well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is about <strong>being reborn from within<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About allowing God to transform you from the deepest place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Drama of Nicodemus: Believing\u2026 But Not Fully<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus does not reject Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But neither does he fully surrender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He remains in an intermediate state\u2014uncomfortable, unstable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is one of the most dangerous spiritual states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 Not being far from God\u2026 but not truly being with Him either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is lukewarmness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is faith without consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is Christianity without the Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Ray of Light: Nicodemus Begins to Change<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus appears again later in the Gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the Pharisees want to condemn Jesus, he dares to say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDoes our Law judge a man without first hearing him?\u201d (John 7:51)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not an open defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But he is no longer completely silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Something is changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace is at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Decisive Moment: When There Is No Turning Back<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, Nicodemus appears at the most difficult moment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The death of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the crucifixion, together with Joseph of Arimathea, he does something unthinkable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 He publicly exposes himself to give Jesus a proper burial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNicodemus\u2026 brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes\u2026 and they took the body of Jesus\u2026\u201d (John 19:39\u201340)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here there is no more night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here there is no more hidden fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is a man who, late\u2014but truly\u2014has made his decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Theological Teaching: The Soul\u2019s Journey Toward the Light<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The figure of Nicodemus is profoundly rich from a theological perspective:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. <strong>Grace Works Slowly<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God does not always transform in an instant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes, He works in the heart gradually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus does not move from doubt to holiness in a single day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But he advances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr knew this. That is why he hesitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But in the end, he understood that <strong>to lose for Christ is to gain eternally<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. <strong>Knowing the Truth Is Not Enough<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus knew a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But he had to learn that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udc49 Salvation does not come from knowledge\u2026 but from conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Nicodemus Today: The Silent Christian of the 21st Century<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus is not just a Gospel character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He is a very current spiritual profile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today there are many \u201cNicodemuses\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They believe, but do not say it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They practice, but with embarrassment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They sense the truth, but do not commit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a world where faith is questioned, ridiculed, or ignored, the fear of exposure is real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the Gospel leaves no room for half-measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Practical Guide: How to Stop Being a \u201cNighttime Nicodemus\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where his story becomes a spiritual path:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Take a Visible Step in Your Faith<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You do not need to start with great gestures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But you do need something concrete:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Making the sign of the cross in public<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Defending a truth with charity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Not hiding your values<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Accept the Cost of Believing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being a Christian is not comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It never was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it is worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Seek Real Encounters with Christ<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nicodemus had a personal encounter with Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You need one too:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In prayer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the sacraments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In silence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>4.
